Flats...suck

Flats suck especially when the tire iron you have is for your truck and too big for the friends' tire you're trying to change.    Had quite the adventure last night after work...  I'm on lunch, but will write more tonight.

Okay... so I stopped in at the car wash to run my truck through... it needed it bad after driving in the snow, salt and underground all week.  I contemplated going by my friend's house on my home, but wasn't sure she was home, so just went home the regular way.   Good thing!   My friend, Sarah, from work was on the side of the road with a flat tire...  that sucks!   I stopped, she was excited to say the least...  we tried to take the tire off, but my tire iron was too big (me=Truck..she=Ford Taurus.. it just didn't fit)  so the hubs (you really think I was doing this without calling him and asking questions?  yea, right!)  so he suggests I run back to the mine to see if our other co-worker, Dustin, was still there...   I did, and he was.  He said he'd help so back I went, and he was right behind me.

So...  his tire iron fit, and we got the lug bolts off (okay he did, Sarah and I were watching and keeping him company.. .I mean come on, how many people does it take to change a flat?)

So now.. the tire won't come off...   yes he knows what he's doing, etc...  the tire was rusted to the rotor....  which again..sucks!   We spent the next hour watching and giving ideas of how to kick the tire, drive it, etc...  to get it to come off..
Well this car shows up that wants to go down the road we are on, only we have her car in the way, so she has to get in and move it, which FINALLY breaks the tire loose and Dustin gets it off and the sugar coated donut (okay so no sugar, but it sounds nicer doesn't it?)  well he puts it on, she's happy, and I'm relieved.. ready to go home!  It was freakin cold!  LOL

:)  She promises cookies the next day...   yummy!

Thank you Dustin for being such a great guy and helping! :)

Romantic... Is it or is it not?

I say IT IS!

The hubs bought me a beautiful Natural Keyboard Valentine's Day.  :)  I know, I know, you're thinking.... What??  But for me it's a very romantical gift. I can type all day long .. pain free! I just love it!

I think everyone should learn to use them.  You'd be amazed at how easy they are on your hands and arms.  I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome BAD and I can type like nobodys business with this thing.  :)))

Go here to view a photo of the same keyboard I have! It's awesome!

Snow, snow and MORE SNOW

oh and ice too!

Sorry it's been so long, cable and electric knocked out because of ....  yep you guessed it... the weather!

Although I got some beautiful pictures of snow, I've had my fill.  I'm ready for SPRING.. not Summer, but definitely Spring.   We had over two feet of snow during the first blast last Friday (Feb 5), played with the snow blower on Saturday,  and made a nice patch of grass for Turbo to do his business in.  Didn't last long though, another foot on Wednesday and a second foot the rest of the week... let's just say that Turbo isn't a happy puppy any longer. :)   Nope, the snows taller than he is tall!

Have tons to do, drawing, cleaning and such and a crazy work schedule working on a project that I don't feel like I've been home at all the last week. Hopefully will only be another week of working till 10pm then back to normal... I hope!

On a really nice note, the hubs bought me a natural keyboard for work, which is going to be such a blessing. I've been working without being able to feel my left hand most of the day, but hey I can still type at least 1000 files a day with very limited mistakes.  :) Yay!

Southwest Whimsy

These three canvases were created to go together, or to be displayed on their own.

The first canvas is one I made up.. It gives the feeling of what it's like to live in New Mexico.. summer nights..  very mellow, the sky is huge...  really is ENCHANTING.
The second is of mountains in Southern New Mexico were I use to live (saw these out of my front door every morning), minus the adobe dwellings, I added those in.
The third I did based on the Chimayo Church in New Mexico at Sunrise.
I am happy to recreate any or all of these on canvas of your choice, or you are welcome to order them as prints.
Contact me if you are interested in these or anything similar.

How to be a gracious bitch...

Jennifer's wedding day was fast approaching. Nothing could dampen her excitement - not even her parent's nasty divorce.

Her mother had found the PERFECT dress to wear, and would be the best-dressed mother-of-the-bride ever!

A week later, Jennifer was horrified to learn that her father's new, young wife had bought the exact same dress as her mother!

Jennifer asked her father's new young wife to exchange it, but she refused.. ''Absolutely not! I look like a million bucks in this dress, and I'm wearing it,'' she replied.

Jennifer told her mother who graciously said, ''Never mind sweetheart. I'll get another dress. After all, it's your special day.''

A few days later, they went shopping, and did find another gorgeous dress for her mother.

When they stopped for lunch, Jennifer asked her mother, ''Aren't you going to return the other dress? You really don't have another occasion where you could wear it."

Her mother just smiled and replied, ''Of course I do, dear.....I'm wearing it to the rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding.''

Wrongfully accusing someone of a crime.

I'm sitting here watching the E! show about the 2004 murder of Riley Fox,  It just goes to show how often the "authorities" (authorities of what?) jump to conclusions just because they don't have an answer. People are so quick to jump on the band wagon just because the media and police say someone is guilty.  Give me a break!

If people were to take the time to form their own opinions, based on their knowledge of a situation, instead of "adopting popular opinion" there would be fewer innocent people ran through the ringer in this country.

Think of how positive the investigators were in all of the cases from thirty and forty years ago that are now being proven innocent because of DNA.

If someone is familiar with the defending attorney they will likely be able to decide whether or not the client is guilty.  The criminal attorney's that I personally know will not represent someone that they feel, or know, is guilty.

Another problem is that people that are accused of a crime are often interrogated, and threatened if they don't admit to the crime.  Hello?  Are we in the US or USSR?  We have rights to not talk to the authorities without the presence of a lawyer, even if you know you're innocent, always ask for a lawyer, otherwise the police (who are often just grasping at straws) will take liberties they have no right taking.

It's amazing to me just how many people do not know that they do not have to speak with the police, child protective services, etc... No matter what they say, you have the RIGHT to not speak with them!  A lot of people who are in prison, or have done time in jail, or have had to go through costly trials, knew they were innocent and erroneously assumed that the police would realize they were not guilty of anything.  Something to keep in mind.... Unless the police have someone they would rather pin a crime on, they will take the easiest out, which could well be a very innocent person!

Our judicial system is flawed, to say the least.  Innocent people have to defend themselves at their own cost, just to prove they are innocent!  That's just wrong. Then after they go through a long and expensive trial (which they pay for with their money, reputation, sometimes a job, sometimes family... the cost is astronomical), the jury unanimously finds them Not Guilty, some people still won't admit that the person must be innocent, etc...

People should always reserve judgment, because one day it could well be them that is being accused of something that they would never in a million years even think of doing.

Yield Stupid!

The first YIELD sign was installed in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was invented by Tulsan Clinton Riggs.  Read more about the Yield Sign here....

I had to do a little research to make sure the Yield sign wasn't a figment of my imagination.  Maybe I'm wrong and they just haven't caught on in New England yet, which is a definite possibility after Escorting houses through New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Drivers in these states rarely notice Yield signs.  Come to think of it, maybe they have changed the definition for them and just forgot to mention it to the rest of us.  Just in case we aren't clear on this subject, a Yield sign indicates a driver must prepare to stop if necessary to let a driver on another approach proceed, but not stop, if his way is clear.  If the way is NOT clear, YIELD!

Okay, so you're wondering why the rant about Yielding, or lack of yielding?  Simple. I have seen so many 4-wheelers (cars, trucks, etc...) use the ramp as a runway to get going as fast as possible, without even looking to see if the road is clear, or worse yet, holding their cell phone up to their left ear so they can't even remotely see what traffic is doing! These are the same idiots that whine and cry about getting their mirror taken off by a big truck, or being crowded into the shoulder so that they have to stop.  Come on people, are you serious?

What do you think is going to happen if you shoot down a ramp into rush hour traffic in Connecticut or Massachusetts without even looking or paying attention?  You're going to cause an accident, whether you yourself will physically be in the accident or just your actions will cause someone else to be in one, it's still your fault!

Oversized loads cannot stop on a dime, no big truck can.  They drive 'ahead of time', meaning they are paying attention to what is around them plus as far down the road as they can see to make sure they have time to react when one of you cars act stupidly, which happens on an average of every five minutes (every three minutes or less when it's an oversized load and escort cars).

Trucks aren't just controlling their truck when you jam on your brakes in front of them to be a butt-head, they also have their trailer (empty or loaded it can have a mind of its own) and a modular home?  Forget about it, they are heavy, wide and require a lot more reaction time to get stopped or moved over. Why do you think the escorts are there?  To block traffic when needed so the driver can get the house over to the next lane as quickly as possible, because some 4-wheeler decided to be ignorant or not pay attention.   What may seem like a jerk move by the escort and or truck driver, to you in your car, is usually only done to save the life of another car on the other side or in front of the truck and load, and probably is saving your life too, you just won't ever know it.  This is why it is important for everyone to PAY ATTENTION!

If any of you ever have a question about something that a Truck or Oversized Load did just ask me!  I'll try my best to answer your questions. Just remember I can only answer based on the information you give me, but it might help you, and others, understand a little better.   I know I've learned a great deal from Escorting Oversizes and being on the road with my hubs.

Stay safe!

Had to share. My Grandma sent this to me. Too Funny!
